New media Czech style at Spaces Gallery

Stop into SPACES Gallery (Cleveland, OH) and see the colorful, wry and witty work of artist Jiří Surůvka who is visiting from Ostrava in the Czech Republic as Spaces current "artist in residence."

Surůvka was born in 1960 so he has developed his taste and talents in a post-industrial, post-socialist environment. He has created sculpture, painting, and performance art that offer irony, humor and an aggressive look at issues facing his community and the world at large. Don't miss out on one of his live performance art pieces, they are a telling insight into how pop culture, politics and art are seen through a former communist country's eyes after it has survived years of war and hardship.

Jiří Surůvka is in residence Sept. 11 - October 23, 2009
SPACES is located at 2220 Superior Viaduct, Cleveland, OH 44113, 216.621.2314
